Why do people say Everlast brand products suck?
One of the main reasons that EVERLAST is not what it once was has to do with it's quality of materials and workmanship. Back in the 60's the Goulme family produced beautiful items of quality and workmanship. During a period in the 80's the product suffered. In a fight involving Donald Curry, he threw an uppercut and the backhand of the Everlast glove split right open exposing the foam padding. They had to get a backup EVERLAST glove to continue the fight. Two rounds later the same thing happened again. That's two EVERLAST gloves that split open in the same fight. They finally used a pair of Reyes and the fight went to the end with no problems. Gloves were made in the EVERLAST factory by skilled union labor. They moved to Mobley MO. and the product suffered some-more. Now, I'm told the gear is made in China under a licensing deal. Just look at the fight on Saturday night. Amadek vs. Chris Arreloa. What happens, an EVERLAST shoe loses it's rubber sole and they have to wrap tape around the shoe and foot to finish the bout. No other brand is seen doing any of those things. Right ? By the way. Ringside is geared more for Amateurs, not pros.
